Locanda Beach

The Locanda beach hotel Aragasi,Zante is easily the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Food is absolutely disgusting. Location is ok but the pool areas is poorly maintained. Would not recommend it to anyone.

The Locanda is supposedly a 3 star hotel. I would give it 1 star at best. Immediately upon arrival, we were told we needed to pay an additional €140 "Climate Resilience Charge", this is nothing more than a stealth tax and the hotel would only accept this in cash. The only positives were that our room was air conditioned (at an additional charge) and the bed was reasonably comfortable (although there was only one spare pillow). The pancakes at breakfast were nice (more on the food later). There is a long list of negatives: - the hotel is located on the main road into Argassi. - our room was on the front of the hotel and was extremely noisy with trucks, ATVs and motorbikes passing almost 24 hours each day. - we stayed on a B&B basis, the food was abysmal. The breakfast offering did not cater to English tastes in any way. What was offered as sausages and bacon, I would not feed to my dog. The fried eggs were rubbery and overcooked. The scrambled eggs had chives in them. There was no fresh fruit. There were no fresh fruit juices, all that was available was orange juice from concentrate. The coffee tasted awful and no tea was available. - on our first night we went to the hotel bar. We were refused drinks and told that the bar was only for fully inclusive guests. We were not even able to buy a drink. - our room was not cleaned for the whole 2 weeks of our stay. The towels and bedsheets were replaced regularly, and bins emptied daily but the bathroom and floors were not cleaned. - there were not enough hangers so we could not put our clothes in the wardrobe. - there was only one chair in the room and the cushion on this was thread bare. - there were no English channels on the TV. - there was no atmosphere in the hotel as far as I could tell. The cleaning staff were friendly but the reception staff were indifferent at best. - the bathroom was nowhere near big enough. There was no room to comfortably sit on the toilet. - the bathroom only had a half width shower screen that meant that water went all over the floor. They had tried to mitigate this by fixing a block to the floor. This did not work and only served as a trip hazard. Argassi is a lovely part of Zakynthos and would come again. However, I would not recommend the Locanda hotel and will not book to stay here again.

Let’s start with good things - rooms were fine, nothing great but tolerable, however they definitely didn’t look like the ones on the hotel’s website. Hotel service was good, boys working in the restaurant and bar were always very nice, as well as man working in the reception’s bar. What’s the worst about Locanda Beach is definitively food and drinks. I didn’t expect much from this hotel, but food was just horrible that we had to eat in restaurants outside of the hotel. For the breakfast food was the same every single day (except from different type of egg every 2 days) - cheese, ham, tomatoes, beans, hash brown and some sausages. For lunch you had one old quesadilla and two types of cookies from the package. Lunch and dinner was also bad, always rice, french fries, some type of meat and baked tomatoes. When it comes to “all inclusive bar” you had nice beer, watered down wine, gin, vodka, ouzo and brandy. They would pour it to the plastic cup with a bit of ice and then you could pour the watered down soft drink from the machine with options of: “cola”, “cola zero”, lemonade, orange juice and water. Overall, hotel itself was not so bad, however food and drinks were horrible. If you would like to eat great Greek food or drink well while on all inclusive trip, I do not recommend it AT ALL. But if you just care about medium cheap hotel stay, it was fine, probably you could find better ones at lower price but it was tolerable.
